Here is an example of how to figure out the strokes:
Before you start, decide how you will settle a tie after 18 holes. Sudden death is preferred. Starters are pretty good at letting you play sudden death at the county courses. Usually any course will co-operate with you, if you are courteous and explain the situation.
To determine the stroke differential for the two man, subtract the low handicap from the others.
Thus, the low man plays at scratch, and the other three guys all get strokes.
Player A is a 10, B is a 12, C is a 15, and D is a 20.
Subtract 10 which is player A from each man. The result is: A is at scratch, B is getting 2 strokes, C is getting 5, and D is getting 10.
Pairings will be posted on our board at Grant. When the match is over enter the winners name & date in the next bracket. Contact your next opponent as soon as you can to set up the next match. Remember everyone has other things going on and the weather doesn't always co-operate. Getting 4 guys to set a date is challenging at times.
