The Blind Bogey number is just a number drawn at random. In our example the number will between and including 70 through 80. Your goal in this, is to pick a number at the beginning of the round, that when subtracted from the score that you shoot, will place your golf score between 70 and 80. I will give you an example of this now.
EXAMPLE OF BLIND BOGEY in the 70 to 80 RANGE
First of all, for the blind bogey your handicap is meaningless.
If you think you will golf a 90 today, you would want to pick a number like 15. The reason for this number is, because when you subtract 15 (the blind bogey number you picked) from 90 (what you thought you would golf), you end up with a blind bogey number of 75. That is of course, right in the middle of the 70 to 80 range you need to be in for the blind bogey. This also gives you a 5 stroke cushion in each direction of 90, if you golf better or worse than you thought. I hope this answers your blind bogey questions. If you golfed a lot better than you thought, or a lot worse, your number would fall out of the 70 to 80 range you needed to be in and you would not be eligible for the blind bogey. This is strictly luck and nothing more. To get into this at the second team matches you have to pay $1 into a container they have available at the course and sign the sheet. There is also a skins game that would cost you $1. The pay out for both of these events depends on the number of entries. These are optional events and nobody has to get into them. Just ask yourself "Do I feel lucky?".
